Gender Reveal Lasagnas Are a Thing Now
When it comes to gender reveal parties, we truly thought we’ve seen it all — from innocent gatherings where the expecting parents slice into a sheet cake, revealing the gender of the baby, to disastrous, godawful, idiotic, explosive ideas that spark an $8 million wildfire. But now, one pizza brand has introduced a new, admittedly strange way to reveal your baby’s gender: lasagna.
Yes, lasagna.
Villa Italian Kitchen, a quick-service pizza brand based out of New Jersey, said to hell with pink and blue cakes. Let’s have the parents-to-be cut into a lasagna, revealing either pink- or blue-dyed cheese inside.
Surprise, mom and dad! Looks like you’ll be having a blue bowel movement.
The Gender Reveal Lasagna Catering Package, which serves 12, not only comes with the dyed made-to-order cheese lasagna, but also a tray of garlic rolls and your choice of either a garden, Caesar or Greek salad. It’ll only set you back $139.99.
“Creating the Gender Reveal Lasagna was so much fun,” said Stephanie Beamer, division vice president of franchise and catering for Villa Restaurant Group in an emailed press release. “We think of our guests like family, and wanted to find a way to celebrate such a momentous occasion with them. We can’t wait to see all the videos of guests revealing their babies’ genders to family and friends in such a unique way.”
Unique, indeed.
Villa Italian Kitchen encourages people to use the hashtag #LasagnaReveal to share their own lasagna-assisted gender reveal. Those who do will also be entered to win a quarterly catering giveaway: at-home catering for one full week by Villa Italian Kitchen, post-birth.
While we can’t wait to see who ends up opting for this type of gender reveal, let alone use the hashtag, at least we have the appalled reactions to scroll through on Twitter in the meantime.
