Kourtney Kardashian Drinks Apple Cider Vinegar Twice A Day — Here's Why

Kourtney Kardashian shared her current meal plan on her website, and it includes a pretty interesting habit: Drinking apple cider vinegar twice a day.

Kourtney wrote that she takes collagen supplements on an empty stomach when she wakes up and around 20 minutes later, she usually drinks water mixed with one tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar, according to People.

“Both of these habits have a ton of health benefits that affect everything from your skin to the way your body processes nutrients,” Kourtney wrote.

She also has another tablespoon of ACV before she eats dinner.

People like Kourtney have been swearing by apple cider vinegar for years as a natural weight-loss aid, appetite suppressant, and laxative. However, don’t jump on the bandwagon just yet.

“There isn’t sufficient research to support those claims,” says Jessica Cording, R.D., a New York City-based registered dietitian. The existing research on the link between apple cider vinegar and weight loss is spotty at best—many of the studies were only done on animals, or were too small to be conclusive. (As for collagen, there is no research to support that ingesting collagen powder or pills will help your skin beyond hydration).

That’s not to say her routine is necessarily worthless.

“Some people find, though, that having a daily ritual like drinking ACV can get them into a can-do mindset around lifestyle changes, and that mindset can support weight loss efforts,” Cording says.

You just have to take any additional health and nutrition benefits with a healthy dose of skepticism.

If you do choose to keep up with Kourtney’s ACV regimen, make sure you dilute it with water before drinking it.

“A teaspoon in eight ounces of water is a safe amount to enjoy without potentially damaging your esophagus,” says Cording.

Some other signature staples of Kourtney’s diet include oatmeal, avocado pudding, salad with chicken or salmon, and soup or turkey chili, according to People. And when she needs to indulge, her go-to is matcha chia seed pudding. But even the “healthiest Kardashian” strays from her healthy eating plan now and then.

“You have to life your life!” she says.
