Fitness Star's Post Sends Powerful Reminder About Instagram Vs. Reality

If you needed another reminder to quit comparing yourself to the bodies you see on social media – here’s a powerful one.

Fitness influencer and Keep it Cleaner founder Steph Claire Smith has shared an Instagram post highlighting the subtle methods that can completely change how a person looks in an image.

“Just a little insta vs reality reminder for you all,” she wrote to her 1.3 million followers, alongside two before and after pictures.

“Sure I look fine in both pictures of course, but remember that lighting, angles and posing can make the world of difference sometimes.”

Just a little insta vs reality reminder for you all. Sure I look fine in both pictures of course, but remember that lighting, angles and posing can make the world of difference sometimes. We all do it.. and that’s okay. But for those of you who constantly look at what’s on Instagram and compare your lives to what you see.. don’t. We all put up some sort of shield before sharing things with others, and that’s okay but I think anyone with a certain amount of following should remember it’s important to be real and relatable… and show that life isn’t always as perfectly put together as we post it to be on our feeds. If you’re having an off day remember that everyone has those. Keep on keeping on and focus on what’s right and real and beautiful in the world and it should turn your day around. ❤️ @keepitcleaner

She isn’t shaming those who use these techniques, admitting she often does it herself, but she says that no one should be comparing themselves to the best pose people put forward online.

Hear, hear, Steph!
