K-Pop Star Kai Just Debuted the First Mullet I've Ever Liked

K-pop's mullet club just gained a new member. After being spotted out and about over the past week with a new hairstyle, Kai officially debuted his mullet-meets-undercut on Monday. The EXO member's latest look was on full display while he attended the Gucci Spring/Summer 2019 runway show in Paris.

Unlike the mullets of the 1980s and 1990s à la Rod Stewart and Billy Ray Cyrus, Kai gave the controversial cut a 2018 twist by shaving the sides of his head. Adding an undercut to the look helps keep the mullet from looking voluminous and retro — without sacrificing the business-in-the-front-party-in-the-back aesthetic. Not only is this a good element to keep in mind if you've been considering a mullet for fall, but it also makes me like them. (Yes, this is the first time I've ever respected a K-pop star's choice to have a mullet. What a momentous occasion.)

The dancer also lightened up his hair to a warm honey bronde shade to go along with his new cut. He even coordinated his makeup with it, too, with a bronzey shadow on his lids.

September has been filled with EXO hair transformations. Chanyeol kicked it off by bleaching his hair, and Sehun colored his a rusty red — just to name a few. Kai, however, is the only member so far to undergo a major hairstyle change. This is also the second time he's showed up to a Gucci show with an experimental hair look. In May, he slipped on a bejeweled veil-like headband for the label's cruise 2019 collection. Maybe he'll dye his hair neon for next season's show.
