We Are Dying to Eat at London's 'Mamma Mia!' Restaurant

If you’re like us, you’ve seen Mamma Mia! (the stage show and both movies) at least a handful of times each now; the soundtrack is on near-constant rotation in your car, home and, of course, shower (the acoustics in there are too good to pass up); and you could easily substitute for any member of ABBA if they had to miss a show for some reason.

Well, now you can actually plan your meals around Mamma Mia! and we’re dying to get a taste of the disco dining adventure. Mamma Mia! The Party is a restaurant experience opening up at the O2 in London this spring, and it sounds like a real hoot.

You might need some "Money, Money, Money" to fly out to London, but when you arrive, here’s what you’ll get.

First, dinner starts out in a bougainvillea-bedecked Greek-style taverna, where owner Nikos and his family (a team of actors and musicians) serve dinner while acting out a show and performing your favorite ABBA hits. The food is Mediterranean, so you’ll feel like you’re vacationing on the island of Kalokairi.

After dinner, the real fun begins. The tables are cleared away, and the dining room is turned into a disco. Dance your heart out to ABBA songs (it’s good for digestion!), and pretend that you’re a member of the Dynamos surrounded by adoring fans.

The show has been running in Sweden for three years to sold-out crowds. The London show can seat up to 500 people a night… and "I Have a Dream" that I’ll get to be one of them!

Mamma Mia! The Party opens in spring 2019, but tickets are going on sale this fall. Reserve your spot now, because we have a feeling these tickets are going to disappear faster than Napoleon’s army at Waterloo.
