Fears that the AstraZeneca vaccine causes blood clots in younger people has triggered an understandable wave of panic. Although the link has not been shown to anything but coincidental, policymakers and the public maybe rethinking their vaccine approach. Mixing vaccines to sidestep the risk may seem appealing but this is not safe, said professor Harnden.
