The two teenage boys, who attended the same school in Staffordshire, had contracted the virus before their deaths, a coroner confirmed. The schoolboys were due to have their vaccines weeks before they died, but the jab service was rescheduled for November 19th. Fourteen-year-old Mohammed Habib reportedly died from a haemorrhagic stroke, which is believed was caused by the virus. The death of Harry Towers is being treated as unexplained, but pathologists are considering COVID-19 as being a contributory cause.

Speaking of Harry’s death, North Staffordshire Senior Coroner Andrew Barkley said: “It is correct that the pathologist is considering COVID-19 as being a contributor to the death of Harry Towers, but at this stage, the cause of death is still under investigation.”

The coroner said he was satisfied Harry’s cause of death was natural, and felt no further investigations were required.

Neither Mohammed nor Harry had underlying health conditions.

The coroner confirmed that Mohammed died from a bleed on the brain following a stroke, caused by COVID-19.

Mohammed was a Year 10 student at St John Fisher Catholic College, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, when he contracted the virus.

The pupil underwent a lateral flow test on October 28, and was due to return the school the following week before suddenly dying on the Saturday.

The schoolboy’s Covid vaccine status was unclear at the time of his death.
