Al Roker Just Revealed Exactly How Much Weight He Lost On The Keto Diet
Al Roker has been fiercely loyal to the keto diet. (Remember when he and Jillian Michaels went head-to-head in a keto diet battle?)
Now, Al is finally opening up about about just how much success he’s had on the high-fat, low-carb diet—and it’s impressive AF.
Al made one of his fave keto meals on TODAY‘s food segment Monday (sloppy joe sandwiches on keto-friendly bread), while talking to Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. “You and I were keto partners for a while, and then I broke up with keto,” Savannah said. “This might bring you back,” added Al.
Once he finished making his meal, Hoda asked Al the million-dollar question: “Al, how much weight have you lost on the keto diet?” “I’ve lost about 40 pounds,” Al replied, noting that his cholesterol levels are healthy, too.
So clearly, Al has good reason to support the diet—and he’s not shy about defending it. Back in January, he had a few things to say on Twitter after Jillian Michaels said the keto diet is a bad idea (she said the diet “starves your cells” and urged people to use “common sense” when making food choices).
See everything Jillian had to say about the keto diet:
Al fired back: “So @JillianMichaels says #Keto is a bad idea. This from a woman who promoted on camera bullying, deprivation, manipulation and more weekly in the name of weight loss. Now those sound like bad ideas,” he wrote.
He also later spoke out about the whole thing on TODAY. “My point is, what works for you, works for you,” he said. “There’s science on both sides that says it’s not a great idea and science that says it is a great idea.” Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen also sided with Al, naming Jillian his “Jackhole of the Day.” “Don’t feel bad, keto diet, a lot of people think Jillian Michaels is a bad idea,” he said on his show.
But where can I get some of those keto sloppy joes??
