Giada De Laurentiis Relies On This Spice Mix For Easy Italian Cooking
We love Italian food, but there’s a reason why the closest we get to it at home is often a jar of marinara with spaghetti – time. Cooking good food often requires a lot of time, either in the kitchen prepping and cooking, or at the store selecting your spices and ingredients. Well, it turns out that even our favorite chefs, like Giada De Laurentiis, feel the same way sometimes. De Laurentiis just shared that when she’s facing a busy night but still wants to eat well, she relies on an Italian puttanesca spice blend to make a tasty meal in a flash.

Puttanesca sauce is full of bold flavors from ingredients like olives, capers, garlic, and onions. The Tutto Calabria Linguine Alla Puttanesca dried spice mix contains all of those ingredients, along with dried tomatoes, parsley, basil, and salt. To use the mix, De Laurentiis says all you have to do is simmer the dried spices in water to rehydrate them, then add some olive oil and a can of tomato sauce. Let it cook for about 20 minutes so the flavors have time to meld (while you make your pasta), then add in some linguine with a little pasta water, tossing to coat.
A sprinkle of Parmesan is all you need to finish the dish.
The sauce from this recipe would also be delicious served with chicken – you could even just throw all of the ingredients (seasoning, tomato sauce, olive oil, chicken) into your Instant Pot for seven or so minutes to have an even more hands-off, easy weeknight meal.
You probably won’t be able to find this Italian dried spice mix in stores, but you can get a pack of it in the Giadzy shop or on Amazon.
