Summer is upon us, and who better to consult to create the ultimate outdoor entertaining experience than the legendary doyenne of domesticity herself, Martha Stewart. The chef-plus-interior-designer-plus-gardener-plus-housewares-empress shared tips and must-haves for summer with SheKnows, and where to shop, too.

When it comes to drinks, Stewart recommends summer wines from the Martha Stewart Wine Co., of course. Oh, and her wine glasses at Macy’s also “Make for the perfect outdoor entertaining set-up,” she told SheKnows.

As for her favorite barbecue sauce? “I always like to make my own,” she said. No store-bought mixes on her table! So what’s key to making your outdoor space feel like an oasis? Stewart said considering the overall function of the space is most important. And then, ” . . . Highlight whatever vegetation grows where you live.”

A new must-have this summer for Stewart is the BIC EZ Reach lighter, which she said could be used for lighting stoves, grills, fire pits, fireplaces, and more. ” . . . It is the ultimate lighter for all lighting occasions. It has an extended wand that makes it easy to reach hard-to-reach places while keeping your fingers away from the flame . . . ” she explained of the new tool she worked on with her dear friend Snoop Dogg. The lighter, which comes in a variety of designs created by herself and Snoop, is just her latest project with the rapper, whom she said has taught her so much over the years.

Specifically, she added, “He has taught me a lot about cooking delicious soul food, like his mother’s fried chicken.” So what’s the trick to the juiciest, tastiest fried chicken? Potato chips, Stewart revealed.
