McDonald’s Is Adding a Stroopwafel McFlurry to the Menu This Week

UPDATE: May 8, 2019 at 10:40 a.m.

It’s really happening! McDonald’s confirmed a Worldwide Favorites menu is coming to restaurants nationwide this summer. Starting June 5, you’ll be able to try the Netherlands’ Stroopwafel McFlurry, Spain’s Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger, Canada’s Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich, and Australia’s Cheesy Bacon Fries. These international faves will only be around for a limited time, so order them while you can.

With restaurants in more than 100 countries, there are tons of McDonald’s items not available in the U.S. But as social media has made it easier to see those items—and tweet about how much you want to try them—McDonald’s has started bringing some of the most popular international items stateside.

So far, these global menus have only been found at select locations, including McDonald’s Chicago headquarters and test locations in South Florida. According to Business Insider, though, a select few will be on Mickey D’s menus nationwide this summer—and the list sounds GOOD.

Per BI, the Worldwide Favorites menu will include the Netherlands’ Stroopwafel McFlurry, Spain’s Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger, Canada’s tomato-mozzarella chicken sandwich, and Australia’s bacon cheesy fries. McDonald’s has yet to confirm whether or not the menu is coming—their official response was “Geen commentaar,” which translates to “No comment”—though they have tested some of these same items in the U.S. before.

The photo at the top of this page shows the Stroopwafel McFlurry—made with vanilla soft serve, caramel waffle cookie pieces, and caramel sauce—and the Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger, a quarter pound burger topped with McBacon sauce, Applewood smoked bacon, Gouda cheese and slivered onions. Both were available for a limited time at 50 South Florida locations last fall. The Miami Herald described the burger as “heavy,” which seems apt.

Meanwhile, McDonald’s cheesy fries were last released in January as a limited-time offering, so it’s not so surprising they’d make a comeback. I’m mostly rooting for the McFlurry, but time will tell! We’ll update this post when McDonald’s shares more.
