Making sure your breakfast is packed full of essential nutrients, as well as plenty of protein and healthy fats to keep you full all day, can help you lose weight and keep it off for good. You need a good breakfast to get your day off to a fantastic start: make sure your breakfast contains these four fat-fighting foods.
When it comes to losing weight, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.
Whether you like an early or a late breakfast, the foods you eat first thing can help fuel you for the rest of your day.
Eating a healthy breakfast with enough nutrients to keep you satisfied until lunch can keep you from reaching for unhealthy snacks during the morning.
While these foods could all be eaten for breakfast to help you achieve your weight loss goals, there’s nothing stopping you from enjoying them whenever you like.
These are 4 of the best foods for weight loss.
1 – Eggs
Eggs are high in protein, which means they help keep you fuller for longer.
Some people avoid eating the egg yolk, for fear this is the fattier part of the egg, however, this is where you’ll find many of the nutritional benefits of eating eggs.
Also, fat doesn’t necessarily make you fat: this is a popular myth.
There are different types of fats, and some sources of fats are nicknamed ‘healthy fats’ because your body needs them for many essential processes.
Healthy fats are found in eggs and they not only boost your overall health but also help you feel full and satisfied after eating.
In general, saturated fats should be avoided if your aim is to lose weight.
Saturated fats are found in butter, cheese and deep-fried processed foods.
2 – Grapefruit
Grapefruits have been studied for their weight loss credentials.
The sour citrus fruit may not be to everyone’s taste, but it may help you reach your target weight faster.
A study found eating grapefruit before eating a meal helped participants eat less while feeling just as satisfied.

3 – Chia seeds
Chia seeds have been labelled a ‘superfood’ due to their impressive health benefits.
They are incredibly high in fibre, which means when you eat them they absorb lots of water, turning into a gel-like substance in your stomach which then makes you feel fuller.
You can enjoy chia seeds as part of a delicious smoothie, or try making a chia pudding.
Just add three or four tablespoons of chia seeds to 250 millilitres of dairy-free milk, and add some fruits of your choice.
Stir them together and leave your pudding to set in the fridge for a few hours, or overnight.
4 – Salmon
Fatty fish like salmon is another example of the sorts of healthy fats that keep you full while being fairly low in calories.
Salmon is a delicious source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which have been suggested to reduce your risk of heart disease.
Fish is also a good source of iodine, which can help keep your metabolism in tip-top condition – start your day with salmon and you could be burning off extra calories throughout the day without even trying.
