Scarlett Johansson Is Launching a Skin-Care Line
So many celebrities have been launching beauty brands in the last couple of years that we've officially run out of jokes about celebrities launching hair, makeup, or skin-care lines. But every now and then, no jokes are called for because the new brand will be spearheaded by a celebrity with whom we can genuinely get excited about sharing beauty secrets. This is one of those occasions.
Scarlett Johansson is the latest A-lister to throw her glamorous, oversized sunhat into the beauty-brand ring — specifically skin care. According to a press release shared with Allure, we can expect the brand — backed by the Najafi Companies, which has also backed Tracee Ellis Ross's Pattern Beauty — to launch in early 2022. Johansson will serve as the founder and chairman.
Other than that, there's very little we know about it so far, including where it will be available, what the products will be, or what brand itself will be called. (Might we suggest Scin by Scarlett? No? How about Johansskin? Sorry.) However, Johansson was kind enough to give Allure an exclusive quote about what's in the works.
"I created this brand to elevate clean, essential skin care," she tells Allure. "This will be a brand for everyone who wants their skin to look its best with minimal effort."
Johansson is no stranger to beauty brands. The Oscar nominee and Tony winner has previously been the face (and hair) of L'Oréal Paris, as well as a celebrity model for Dolce & Gabbana's collection of The One fragrances. This will be the first time, however, that she's not just a beauty brand's ambassador — she's its founder and chairman.
"Several years ago, I took a step back from my beauty deals with the goal of creating something true to me," she said in the press release, which goes on to state that she chose to operate independently in order to be intimately involved with every aspect of the company.
Allure will, of course, share more details as they become available in the next few months — within which we fully expect other celebrities to announce more beauty brands.
