Tresemmé Is Covering Color Services for California's Essential Workers Through July
The number of new coronavirus cases might be decreasing in some areas, but the pandemic's not over yet — that especially goes for essential workers across the country, who've had a long and tough year-and-a-half. That's why Tresemmé is covering the cost of hair color services for California-based essential workers throughout the rest of July and into August. The brand recruited two of Hollywood's most beloved colorists — Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One Salon in Los Angeles — to execute the plan. If you don't know them by name, you undoubtedly know their work, thanks to a slew of famous clients, including Hilary Duff, Megan Rapinoe, and Julianne Hough.
As Capri tells Allure, the goal of this initiative isn't just to get more people into salon chairs; it's about gathering communities and giving back to health care providers, grocery clerks, and other essential workers. "As much time as these individuals have dedicated to others, they have had no time for themselves," she explains. "Allowing them to come in and gifting them this service is one of the top self-care things they can do to feel better physically and mentally."
Of course, Lee, Capri, and their salon's team don't have the capacity to treat every essential worker in the Los Angeles area — there will be a few limitations. Appointments will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis, as Capri reveals, but those who do get an appointment will be able to get any hair color treatment of their choice. "That can range from balayage to highlights or a full head of color," meaning that the time spent on each client will range greatly, as Capri explains.
And the hair coloring duo expects to make a lot of big, personalized transformations in the coming weeks. "Right now a lot of people are making bold moves — platinum blondes, fun reds, and dimensional brunettes," Capri says. "As far as the essential workers, my guess is they'll leave it in our hands."
Regardless of each essential worker's chosen hair color, they'll be sent home with a complimentary Tresemmé Color Gloss collection set to keep their new color looking fresh over time. These color-depositing conditioners maintain color and boost shine — and they're wildly easy to use at home. "After shampooing, apply evenly throughout damp hair, leave for three minutes, then rinse with water," Capri advises.
To see if you're qualified for a complimentary service at Nine Zero One, check California's official pandemic response website to see if your role qualifies as essential. If you're eligible, call Nine Zero One Salon directly and ask to book an appointment with the code TRESGLOSS.
If you happen to miss the appointment window and can't see another professional for any reason, there are always at-home treatments, too. When using box dyes or color glosses like Tresemmé's, just be sure to fully saturate every piece of hair for the most even results — and always follow those instructions on the bottle or box.
