This Could Be the Next Skittles Flavor

I learned about disappointment the hard way — biting into what seemed like a shiny orb of white chocolate, only to discover that it was, in fact, yogurt obscuring a dry, wrinkled raisin. Blech! Well, Skittles is trying to save me some money on therapy bills by taking me back to my childhood and righting a wrong — their new candy, Skittles Dips, coats Skittles in yogurt instead of raisins, so the surprise inside is actually even better than the yogurt candy coating outside, unlike the disastrous raisin disappointments of my youth.

There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the new product. It first appeared on a Reddit forum, after someone’s neighbor just…gave them a bag of Skittles Dips one day with no further information. Um, was their neighbor a secret food scientist? A spy for a competing company, looking to stir up rumors? A freaking guardian angel sent from above so we don’t have to eat yogurt-covered raisins anymore? I’ve got questions! But no one is certain.

The only clues on the packaging are to the flavor (original Skittles coated in a “creamy yogurt flavored coating), and the fact that the bag is marked with a disclaimer stating “this unit not labeled for individual retail sale.” This could mean a number of things, though – is it a prototype straight from the factory? A press sample gone rogue? Part of a multi-pack filled with other brand new Skittles offerings? It seems like we’ll have to wait to find out.

This isn’t the first time Skittles has released new flavors. They recently unleashed a Sweet Heat flavor, and I can still remember my excitement when Sour Skittles first hit shelves back in the day. We may have to wait a little while for these yogurt-covered candies to make their way to stores and our hearts, but in the meantime, at least we have the sweet memories of flavors past.
